How to set the first stage of case life cycle to green color by default
I have added a few more stages to the lead stage look up. I made the newly added stages to only display in the workflow bar and have also given them the stage number. I have a created a workflow with the newly created lead stages. By default when a lead record is created, the first stage should be set to green color.
But for the workflow that i have created , by default the color is grey. On clicking the first stage it turns green.
Kindly help me resolve the same.

One of the possible reasons is that you have default value of lead stage set to the stage that is not the first one, please check that (http://prntscr.com/m5ek13). Also please check the lookup Lead stage and make sure that the Stage number is correct for all the stages.

Firstly, this functionality is managed by a system setting with a code 'DefaultLeadStage'.
Secondly, please proceed to Advanced settings, select lead as an object, search for a QualifyStatus as per the screenshot below:
